Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic looks set to stay with the Serie A outfit despite reported interest from Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, speaking to CalcioNews24.

A Granata side who narrowly avoided relegation last term went into the summer fearing the departure of several key players.

But, with just a month left in the window, Andrea Belotti, Wilfried Singo, Gleison Bremer and Serbia international Lukic are still plying their trade in Turin, despite reported interest from a number of English-based clubs.

Gianluca di Marzio reported in June that a Crystal Palace side building from the ground up under Patrick Vieira had made an ‘important proposal’ for Lukic.

The 24-year-old had also had admirers a few miles down the road with Spurs looking for a midfielder capable of easing the burden on the overworked Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (TMW).

Is Sasa Lukic heading to the Premier League?

But Lukic, who is reported to be valued in the region of £9 million, now looks set to stay at Torino after one of Italy’s great underachievers hired the highly-rated Ivan Juric as their new head coach.

“I don’t read the newspapers a lot. It’s normal for a player to be the subject of rumours (about his future) but I don’t think about that,” says Lukic, a flexible midfielder renowned for his intelligent in possession.

“I’m a Toro player and I think about doing well this season. It’s my fifth year (at the club) and I feel at home.

“Every year I try to do the best I can: last year I got off to a good start, then Covid stopped me for a few weeks and I was unable to return as before. But I’m working hard. I hope to have a good season, me and the whole team.”

Both Tottenham and Palace appear to have moved onto other targets in recent weeks anyway, with the Eagles one of many top-flight clubs looking to snatch the £13 million-rated Jens Cajuste from Midtjylland.
