Krosche has said that now that Leeds have been promoted to the Premier League, the West Yorkshire outfit are obliged to make Augustin’s loan deal permanent, as agreed by all parties in January.
The 23-year-old striker joined the Whites on loan from Leipzig in the January transfer window.
The youngster was on loan at Leeds until the end of June, and despite the season running into July, the Whites decided not to extend it to cover this month.
Krosche told Kicker, as translated by Get German Football News: “Leeds have been promoted, which means the purchase option has been activated.
“When the contractual agreements were negotiated in January, all involved parties were in complete control of their actions. I expect that things will now move in the appropriate decision.”
Leeds United struggles
Much was expected of Augustin when he arrived at Leeds in January, as the striker came with a strong reputation.
However, the Frenchman struggled to hit the ground running, and had injury and fitness issues.
According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old played just 49 minutes in the Championship for Leeds during his loan spell.
Augustin has not really done much of note under Marcelo Bielsa, and it will be interesting to see how he does in the Premier League if Leeds do sign him on a permanent contract.
