Alan Shearer has claimed that he expects ‘another big season’ from Mohamed Salah at Liverpool this season, as he told the Premier League’s official website.
The former striker added that he is ‘sure’ that Rafa Benitez would have been ‘impressed’ with the ‘all-round’ performance Richarlison produced for Everton over the weekend.
Liverpool eased past newly-promoted Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday evening, whilst Everton came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1.
Both Salah and Richarlison opened their accounts for the new Premier League season and Shearer had this to say about the players:
“The Brazilian’s goal, assist and all-round performance will have impressed new manager Rafa Benitez,” said Shearer. “I am sure.”
“Two assists and an opening weekend goal for the fifth season running!,” added Shearer. “I expect another big season for the Egyptian.”

All eyes will be on that first Merseyside derby at the end of November and Benitez coming up against his former club.
When the 2020/21 season concluded, not many expected Everton to be in a situation where Benitez will be leading them out now for the following campaign.
But the Spanish coach is in that position now, and with all the noise surrounding his appointment, the only way he can quieten that down is by putting wins on the board.
Winning the first Merseyside derby would be something, but there are a lot of crucial games to go before then.
