Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that he ‘expects’ Mo Salah to sign a new deal at Liverpool, as he told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (12/01/22 at 5:10 pm).

The Sky reporter added that the money Salah is asking for at Liverpool is comparable to the wages other players, of his ability, are on around the world.

Even though Salah’s current situation might make some Liverpool fans nervous because he hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, he has made it clear himself that he wants to stay at Anfield.

It’s just a case of the player and the club coming to an agreement on his wages and keeping one of the world’s best players on board.

Transfer expert Solhekol thinks that both parties will come to an agreement on a new contract.

“It looks almost certain that Mo Salah is going to sign a new contract at Liverpool,” said Solhekol.

“What’s holding it up the discussions about how much he is going to be paid. I know Mo Salah himself has said ‘I am not asking for something crazy’.

“I think, in the real world, we would say what he is asking for is crazy because most people would think getting paid £250k, £300k or £400k-a-week is crazy.

“But he is the best at what he does. Other players that are comparable with his ability in the Premier League and in Europe are getting paid that sort of money.

“Mo himself has said he wants to stay. Jurgen Klopp himself has said ‘we want him to stay’. It’s just a matter of time. I expect him to sign a new contract at Liverpool.”

There are only a few players that could argue that they are possibly the world’s best players, at this moment in time.

But given that Salah plays in the toughest league in world football, then that probably gives him the edge over the likes of Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski.

Either way, following his red hot form for Liverpool this season, Salah will be hoping to showcase some of that goalscoring touch in Egypt colours at the Africa Cup of Nations.

It was an opening game defeat for Carlos Queiroz’s side, who lost out to Nigeria thanks to a goal from Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.
