One rising star in world football has revealed that it’s his dream to represent Liverpool at some stage in his career.

Young midfielder Tete enhanced his reputation is a huge way a few months ago after having a hand in all three Shakhtar Donetsk goals in their 3-2 win away to Real Madrid.

At 20, shining on a stage like that is guaranteed to get him noticed and there’s been speculation about his future in Ukraine since.

And although the youngster is adamant that he’s staying with Shakhtar, Tete did concede that playing for Liverpool is a lifelong ambition for him.

He told Globo Esporte: “I dream of playing for Liverpool, Manchester United, but I’m focused on Shakhtar. We have a few years of my contract. I will play my part, I am concerned with giving my best to Shakhtar.”

Of course, he also name-checked Manchester United, but Liverpool is a more attractive proposition at this moment in time and it’ll be interesting to see if word gets back to Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards that Tete has one eye on moving to Anfield at some point.

It must be noted that Shakhtar have a release clause of £133 million written into his contract, so any departure from Ukraine is going to be very expensive and there’s just no chance of the Premier League champions sanctioning a move of that magnitude anytime soon.
