Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Jay Idzes is dreaming big with a move to Premier League winners Liverpool at the top of his wish list, as reported by Voetbal Zone.
While the Merseyside giants have made a habit of signing under-the-radar gems from mainland Europe, this 20-year-old Dutchman may have a long way to go before he follows in the footsteps of Kostas Tsimikas, Takumi Minamino and co.
Brabant-born Idzes is still learning his trade in Holland’s second tier.
However, a move to Go Ahead Eagles has allowed the one-time PSV youngster to spread his wings and showcase the kind of assured passing ability and box-to-box bursts likely to catch the attention of clubs higher up the football nest.
And Idzes has his heart set on flying right to the top.
“Of course I dream of Liverpool – but I will have to show how far I can get,” says the youngster, who plans to make an intermediate step to an Eredivisie club in the near future.
“(Go Ahead Eagles) always has to compete in the top six (of the Eerste Divisie), so that’s why I came here.

“I am a midfielder by nature but, in the youth at PSV, I was often a central defender and at FC Eindhoven I was sometimes even left or right-back. I’m guessing I’ll be a striker in five years’ time!”
That kind of versatility and a hunger to play in a multitude of positions will do Idzes’ reputation no harm as he maps out a future at one of the top European clubs.
The deep-lying playmaker has started all eight of Go Ahead’s games in 2020/21, establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet at only 20 years of age.
