Former Roma ace Odoacre Chierico dreams of seeing Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti treading the touchline at the Stadio Olimpico, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

With the wins drying up and internal divisions threatening to rip the Giallorossi limb from limb behind the scenes, the end of the Paulo Fonseca era can’t come soon enough for some.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss is out of contract in the summer and, according to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are already lining up potential replacements.

Maurizio Sarri, a Scudetto champion with Juventus in 2020, heads the hit-list while sporting director Tiago Pinto has also sounded out the availability of Porto coach Sergio Conceicao.

According to Chierico, however, Roma should be going all out to land arguably the greatest Italian tactician of all time.

“I dream of the return of Carlo Ancelotti,” Chierico says of the 61-year-old, who donned the famous Giallorossi shirt between 1979 and 1987.

With Ancelotti under contract until 2024, however, it looks as though the former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss is at Goodison Park for the long haul.

The affable Italian has made no secret of his desire to lead an ambitious Everton side into Europe and their space-age new stadium.

That long-awaited relocation, from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock, is expected to take place in 2025 (Guardian).
