Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has raved about goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to Sky Sports.
Mourinho has said that France international goalkeeper Lloris – who cost Spurs £8 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Lyon in the summer of 2012, as reported by The Daily Mail – is the best player in his position in the Premier League.
The Portuguese boss has also said that Joe Hart is the best English goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Hart joined Spurs on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 and is the second-choice custodian at the North London club.
Mourinho told Sky Sports: “I don’t want to offend anyone, and I hope that people just accept my opinion; we have the best goalkeeper in England and the best English goalkeeper.
“So I am so happy with that, that I don’t think about what can or cannot happen [in the summer]. Hugo has a contract. Joe has a contract. I am so happy with both, no problems at all.
“Hugo is Hugo. He is a very good goalkeeper. He is our number one. It is hard for me to say that because Joe works so hard and deserves more than not playing one single minute in the Premier League until now. But it’s the reality of things.”

Good management?
One suspects that even Tottenham fans will not agree with Mourinho’s comments on Lloris and Hart.
True, Lloris is a good goalkeeper, but the Frenchman has made some costly mistakes in recent years.
Liverpool’s Alisson and Manchester City’s Ederson are far better goalkeepers than Lloris.
As for Hart, Dean Henderson of Manchester United, Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope of Burnley are much better than the former Manchester City goalkeeper.
It is good management of Mourinho to praise Lloris and Hart in public and show them that he values them.
