‘I don’t want to be disrespectful’: Aston Villa player makes claim about £25m Arsenal man

Aston Villa defender, Tyrone Mings, has told his England press conference on Tuesday that Arsenal’s, Kieran Tierney, has shown ‘every week’ how good of a player he is.

England will lock horns with Scotland on Friday night at Wembley, with a few Aston Villa and Arsenal players hoping to feature.

Tierney missed Scotland’s opening Euro 2020 defeat to the Czech Republic last time out, whilst Mings produced an outstanding display in defence as the Three Lions beat Croatia.

And ahead of that showdown, Mings shared these thoughts on the Arsenal player and how he doesn’t want to be ‘disrespectful’ to the player who might replace him if he’s out injured again.

“I think he has shown it every week, how good of a player he is and an attacking threat he is,” said Mings. “Quite often as a left wing-back or left centre-back, whichever he plays in.

“They are positions in modern football that are so important in attack and defence that if he plays then he is another one we will have to be conscious of.

“There are pros and cons to everything. If we play and won the game then people will say ‘it’s because Kieran Tierney didn’t play’. But he’s a fantastic player.

“Certainly for us, whether he plays or whether he doesn’t. We will prepare for both eventualities. But I don’t want to be disrespectful to whoever may play in his position by saying they will be weaker if he didn’t play.”

Arsenal fans will no doubt take an extra interest if their £25 million player (Sky Sports) does indeed start against England on Friday.

Whilst Scotland don’t have the quality or depth of the bigger nations at Euro 2020, they have a left side that many nations would dream of.

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson linking up with Tierney is some partnership and it’s one the Three Lions have to be really wary of.

Mings will be expected to start for his country again, and if he does, then he will have to deal with a lot of dangerous and potentially goal-scoring crosses the likes of Tierney and Robertson will try to whip in.
