Thomas Tuchel has admitted he doesn’t understand why Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte escaped a touchline ban following the fracus between him and the Chelsea coach earlier this month.

Moments after Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago, both Conte and Tuchel had to be separated following a tense London derby.

Television footage indicated that Tuchel refused to let go of the Tottenham coach’s hand straight after the game.

Both managers received red cards for the melee but only the Chelsea boss received a one-match touchline suspension – and a £35,000 fine, £20,000 more than what Conte had to pay.

And speaking via a press conference today, the German manager feels that an identical punishment for both parties should’ve been handed out.

Is Tuchel right?

Honestly, probably not.

Tensions were already high when Conte celebrated Tottenham’s initial equaliser right in front of the Blues boss and his coaching staff.

However, the post-match scenes were clearly sparked by Tuchel gripping the Italian’s hand for longer than necessary and therefore he has been deemed the instigating party.

Chelsea are at home to Leicester City tomorrow afternoon and Tuchel added that he is not yet 100 percent certain whether the one-match suspension will apply to the visit of Brendan Rodgers’s side.
