Frank Leboeuf says if Kai Havertz joins Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Mason Mount secures a transfer to Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, then it’s not a step up from Chelsea.
The former Chelsea defender expressed that ‘I don’t understand’ why the duo would head for the exit door and sign for Arsenal and Manchester United, respectively.
It’s been claimed that Kai Havertz is edging closer to a move to Arsenal, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, whilst talk of Mason Mount going to Old Trafford won’t go away, but for Leboeuf, it’s the ‘same level’, as he told ESPN.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United returned to the Champions League this season, with the latter winning the League Cup along the way, whilst the Gunners blew their chances of becoming chances of England.
Meanwhile, at Stamford Bridge, it was a season of abjectness of the highest level, with hundreds and hundreds of millions spent, two managers sacked and it all yielding in a bottom-half finish.
Despite that, Leboeuf still questioned the probability that Mount could be a Man United player next season and Havertz could be moving across London.
“If you want to move club, it’s because you think it’s a promotion,” said Leboeuf. “Here me well, I am not saying that Manchester United is at the same level as Chelsea, compared to last season.
“In terms of a club and what they want to achieve. I think there is only one club better than Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool. It’s Manchester City. I really think, if the player wants to move if he is available, then he has to look for something better, where he can get something out of it.
“So, I don’t understand the move of let’s say Havertz to Arsenal or Mount to Manchester United. Like I wouldn’t understand Christian Eriksen from Manchester United to Chelsea. That is the same level, for me.”

Mount and Havertz transfers are a step up
The fact of the matter is that you have to deal with the present and that tells you Chelsea are in a mess, they need to sort themselves up, whilst Arsenal and Man United are in a good place.
Yes, the duo still have a long way to go to catch the Treble-winning machine that is Manchester City, but that’s everyone.
Either way, if Mount and Havertz make their respective moves, then it is a step up, without a doubt.
