Andy Cole has slammed how Lucas Digne is being treated at Everton, as rumours suggest that West Ham and Newcastle want to sign him, as he told Premier League Productions (06/01/22 at 12:55 pm).

The former Premier League striker stated Rafa Benitez has gone into Everton and, ‘within six months’, he has fallen out with ‘one of their best players’, which nobody knows ‘why’.

Digne hasn’t played for Everton since their defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby and now the rumours suggest that he could be off.

Both Newcastle and West Ham hold an interest in the left-back, as reported by Sky Sports.

Cole shared what he has thought of Digne when he has watched him play and his current situation right now.

“I don’t understand why Lucas Digne is not playing,” said Cole. “Every time I have seen him play for Everton, I think he is one of their best players.

“Benitez has gone in and what? Within six months, he has fallen out with him. Does anyone know why? But he is one of your best players.

“Now (he might leave), so we have to ask question likes that.”

If Digne does head for the exit door at Goodison Park, it’s not because of his lack of quality or his form hitting a brick wall.

But it seems as though he has had a disagreement with Benitez, of some sort, and there is no way back.

Either way, whoever manages to snap up his talents will have one of the best left-backs in the country on their hands.

There will be some who will hold the advantage over others, but Digne’s next move is set to be a very interesting one.
