Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Football London revealed that Mikel Arteta will take a closer look at William Saliba this summer.

It’s safe to say they’re not happy.

The report claims that the Spaniard will closely monitor the £27 million defender when Arsenal’s first-team returns for pre-season.

Saliba is currently on loan at OGC Nice, where things are going quite well.

The 20-year-old was named as Man of the Match in his last outing, helping to keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Reims.

In total, he has made 14 starts in Ligue 1 following his January return to France.

It has been a truly miserable second season at Arsenal for Saliba.

If Arteta doesn’t get him involved in the first-team next term, questions will be asked.

The France Under-20 international spent the first half of the campaign playing Under-23 football, after he was left out of Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squads.

As seen below, fans are unsurprisingly annoyed that Arteta is only going to ‘take a look’ at Saliba – it seems they want something more definitive about the centre-back’s playing opportunities next term.

If Arteta doesn’t get him involved, it will be baffling. Arsenal spent £27 million on the defender when he was just 18, so they need to start getting some use out of him soon.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have said about Football London‘s report…
