Tim Sherwood doesn’t think Aston Villa need to do ‘anything now’ during the final few days of the January transfer window, as he told Premier League Productions (27/01/22 at 1:20 pm).
The former Villa boss stated that if he was Steven Gerrard, then he would ‘keep my powder dry’ and wait until the summer.
Villa have brought in two new faces this month in Philippe Coutinho on a loan deal from Barcelona.
Whilst they managed to take advantage of the break-up in relationship between the now-sacked, Everton boss, Rafa Benitez and Lucas Digne.
Nonetheless, there will be some Villa fans who would point towards the club needing another defensive-minded midfielder because it seems as though Marvelous Nakamba won’t be back this season because of injury.
Plus, the Midlands side are also short in the centre-back department after Axel Tuanzebe’s loan deal was cut short.
They are two areas Villa could fill in during these final few days, but Sherwood doesn’t think so, as he sent this message.
“The likes of Aston Villa, I don’t think they need to do anything now,” said Sherwood.
“Where are they actually going to end up? Probably not in the top six. Not going to get relegated.
“I would keep my powder dry if I am Steven and then wait until the summer.
“They did well (with Coutinho) that was a fantastic signing.”

In terms of needing an extra defensive brain in the middle of the park, there is talk that Villa could possibly sign Juventus’, Rodrigo Bentancur.
Whilst Douglas Luis is doing an outstanding job, if he were to get injured, then 18-year-old, Carney Chukwuemeka, would probably be the best next option off the block.
Someone like John McGinn could drop deeper, but it’s pretty obvious that another bonafide player would be needed, hence the chase for Bentancur.
