Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has been discussing Leeds United’s search for a new manager and Nuno Espirito Santo.
Leeds have struggled to find a new gaffer so far as the likes of Andoni Iraola, Carlos Corberan and Arne Slot seem to be unattainable.
Now, Hay says that Nuno’s name is one that has been mentioned to him as a potential option, albeit not from anyone inside the club, stating that he doesn’t thing fans would be too impressed by this appointment.
Nuno has been mentioned
Hay shared what he’s heard about Nuno and Leeds.
“Well I think one that will come up inevitably is Nuno and I don’t think people will jump for joy at that. He had some good years at Wolves, but he’s someone you could reasonably approach and say we need you for a few months,” Hay said.
“He’s been mentioned in dispatches to me, but not by anybody at the club, but if you were putting together a list of people who might be easier to get hold of, he might be one of them.”
Not a bad option
This wouldn’t be the worst option in the world for Leeds.
Yes, you know exactly what you’re getting and it is slightly uninspiring, but he probably would keep the Whites safe this season, and, in the end, that’s what matters.
Nuno isn’t a bad manager by any stretch of the imagination. He took Wolves into Europe during his time at Molineux, and while he struggled at Spurs, he did have his moments in north London too, winning a Manager of the Month award in his first month at the club.
Whether or not Leeds go in this direction remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be a bad shout.
