Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT (27/07/21 at 7:45 am) that Leeds fans wouldn’t like the suggestion of their star man joining Manchester United.
It was suggested to the former midfielder that those in the Old Trafford boardroom should perhaps consider the Leeds man to bulk up their questionable midfield.
Leeds may have been out of the Premier League for well over a decade, but one thing that didn’t fade away is their intense rivalry with Manchester United.
And Parlour made it clear that it would be a ‘kick in the teeth’ if Phillips ever opted to leave Leeds for their bitter rivals.
“I don’t think Leeds fans will like that move,” said Parlour. “It would be a kick in the teeth (if he moved to Manchester United).”

Even though Phillips wouldn’t have grown up with the Manchester United rivalry, he would still know a lot about it being a boyhood Whites fan.
There is no way the defensive-minded midfielder would consider such a move, even if a bid came in, and there’s no suggestion that there will be one.
But Manchester United aside, Leeds need to keep hold of their star players because they are one of a number of clubs who can break into those Champions League places during these coming years.
Certain clubs have cemented their place near the top of the Premier League table, but Leeds have the power, fans, coach and players to surge their way back to the top.
