Guillem Balague has played down West Ham United’s chances of signing Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri on his Youtube channel.

West Ham have seen one bid rejected for En-Nesyri in recent days, and Balague has suggested that the offer fell well short of the Spanish side’s asking price.

Indeed, Balague feels that Sevilla’s determination to keep hold of their key goalscorer makes him a very difficult target for David Moyes’s men to sign.

And West Ham may have to turn their attentions elsewhere, after the latest update.

“El Nesyri is the striker of Sevilla. They put an offer of €25 million, but unless they double that or it gets to €40 million, Sevilla will not sell him,” he said.

“He’s worked for Sevilla, he’s the best goalscorer in the side and he’s doing it in a style that works for Sevilla.

“Only if West Ham gets to €40,45 million [£40 million] then they will let him go, but I don’t think West Ham will get that far.”

The news comes as a blow to West Ham, who have found it difficult to land a number of their targets already.

West Ham are on the hunt for a new number nine following Sebastien Haller’s departure, but very few teams are wanting to sell this month.

The Hammers do need a new striker, otherwise they could be far too over-reliant on Michail Antonio, who often struggles to stay fit.

West Ham have had a seriously promising first half to the season, and if they can sign the right forward then a push for Europe is not out of the question.
