Leicester City and Watford target Andrea Cambiaso will not be leaving Serie A for the Premier League during the January transfer window, agent Giovanni Bia tells Tuttomercatoweb.
Watford, at least, appear to have moved on from Cambiaso anyway.
Claudio Ranieri’s sinking side made a new left-back one of their top priorities heading into the winter window. And, after expressing an interest in Arsenal’s £100,000-a-week forgotten man Sead Kolasinac and Rangers flyer Borna Barisic, snapped up Ivory Coast international Hassane Kamara in a deal worth around £4 million.
Watford, then, were always unlikely to press ahead with their initial interest in 21-year-old Cambiaso (TMW).
Though, with Leicester, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, AC Milan and Juventus interested too, the Genoa starlet won’t be short of alternative offers when his contract expires at the end of this season.
Is Andrea Cambiaso heading to the Premier League?
According to Cambiaso’s agent, the Italy U21 star is set to bid farewell to the Rossoblu this year. He is more likely to leave on a free transfer, however, rather than for a cut-price fee over the next few weeks.
“We’ll see,” Bia said when asked about Cambiaso’s future. “From here to June, something will happen but I don’t think he will leave Genoa in this window.”

Leicester’s interest in the Genoa academy graduate does not reflect particularly well on Ryan Bertrand, the Premier League veteran who joined Brendan Rodgers’ side from Southampton last summer.
Bertrand, at 32, has looked a shadow of his former swashbuckling self at the King Power Stadium.
And considering that Leicester already have James Justin and Luke Thomas on their books, an approach for Cambiaso will raise inevitable questions about Bertrand’s future in the East Midlands.
Leicester have also been linked with a move that would see Rodgers reunite with former Liverpool star Philipe Coutinho, while Swansea City’s Joel Piroe is another target.
