Kevin Phillips has said on Racing Post that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is not going to score 15 to 20 goals in the Premier League this season.

The former Aston Villa striker has also predicted Leeds to fight for survival in the Premier League, although he does think that Marcelo Bielsa’s side will finish above the bottom three.

Phillips, who also spoke about Harry Kane and Everton to Racing Post, made the comments ahead of the Premier League game between Villa and Leeds at Villa Park on Friday evening.

The former England international striker said on Racing Post: “Bamford has chipped in with a few goals. Is he going to be a prolific goalscorer in the Premier League to get that 15 to 20? I don’t see it.”

Phillips added: “I see them probably scrapping relegation. Whether they finish mid-table, I think they will survive. Mid-table probably a bit too much for me, unless they can start converting these chances more regularly.”

Keeping faith in Patrick Bamford

Bamford – who cost Leeds £7 million in transfer fees the they signed him from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports – is doing well at the moment.

The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker has scored three goals and provided one assist in five Premier League games for the Whites so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the 27-year-old scored 16 goals and provided two assists in the Championship for Leeds, according to WhoScored.

Bamford has proved his critics wrong, and the striker could end up scoring 15 goals in the Premier League and make sure that Leeds do not go down to the Championship.
