According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea.

The idea of Mount leaving Chelsea does sound rather preposterous. After all, he is an academy product who has been with the west London club for most of his life.

However, with his contract situation dragging on, the door is slightly ajar for another club to make a move, and Liverpool are reportedly keen.

Interestingly, Mount has sounded his appreciation for Klopp’s Liverpool in the past, stating that he used to get a lot of motivation from the Reds’ dominance.

Liverpool motivated Mount

Mount spoke about Klopp’s team back in 2019 when they were at their best,

“For a team to be as dominant as they have been this season definitely gives you motivation for next season to match them,” Mount told The Star.

“We played them three times this season and have definitely been getting closer and been competitive with them. When you watch that it gives you extra motivation.

“I will definitely spur us on. I’m a winner, so I don’t like watching other people win. It’s hard to watch someone else win. They are worthy winners. When you watch something like that it will give us extra motivation to win.”

Tempting

Mount knows just how good this Liverpool team can be, and that may well tempt him into heading to Anfield.

When you’ve played against this Klopp team, you’re bound to be keen to get involved. Especially when your skillset matches up in the way that Mount’s does.

Indeed, as a tireless runner and a keen presser, Mount would thrive in this midfield, and he might just be keen to work with Klopp in the near future.
