Speaking in his pre-match press conference, David Moyes has been speaking about West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
Moyes was previewing the Hammers’ game against Rapid Vienna and inevitably, he was asked about Rice after the England international’s incredible performance against Dinamo Zagreb.
We all know that Moyes is a big fan of Rice. After all, he’s his captain, but he had special praise for the midfielder here.
What’s been said?
Moyes had nothing but good things to say about Rice, and even though he doesn’t like to blow the midfielder’s trumpet in front of him, he claimed he’s arguably one of the best youngsters in Europe.
“He’s such a good player. I don’t like saying it in front of him, but he’s arguably one of the best young midfield players in Europe, if not the best. Every time he plays he’s got a responsibility for himself,” Moyes said.
“He plays for England. Every time he turns out, he has to play really well. Overall, we’re really happy with Declan and what he does. His performances have been excellent and I hope it continues.”

Superstar
David Moyes has managed some of the best players the Premier League has ever seen in his time, so this is high praise from an experienced manager.
This is a boss who has seen the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand in training every day, and he considers Rice one of the best in Europe.
To be honest, it’s hard to argue with this view. The West Ham midfielder dominates most games he plays, and he was arguably one of the best players at Euro 2020.
Rice is an absolute superstar and West Ham know just how lucky they are to have him.
