Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Premier League Productions that Andy Robertson’s first action was not one that he liked seeing against Southampton last night.
Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Southampton, and their slow start proved costly.
Robertson’s first mistake was to make a foul, after he felt he was brought down.
And Klopp said that he felt that the Scottish defender wasn’t at the top of his game right from the get go at St. Mary’s.
“Against two strikers it makes sense to build up with three,” he said. “That could be Trent or Thiago, Robbo should have been slightly higher.
“They were not bombing up and down the line, that’s because we passed the ball in the wrong moments.
“Robbo, by the way, was constantly on his bike second half.
“These are outstanding players, but tonight one didn’t start well and Robbo’s first situation he wants a foul and then he grabs him, I don’t like these things. It shows we are not ready from the start.”

Liverpool’s failure to get out of the starting blocks saw them fall behind in the first moments, when Danny Ings scored with a spectacular finish.
They did improve slightly after the break, but the Reds still struggled to really create any clear cut chances.
Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both didn’t have as much of an attacking influence on the game as usual, as Southampton held firm and claimed the victory.
Liverpool’s lead at the top now looks to be a precarious one, with Manchester United having a game in hand over them.
