Alan Shearer blasted the ’embarrassing’ actions from Trézéguet during Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford, as he told Match of the Day 2.
The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer stated that he didn’t like Trézéguet’s attempt to dive to win a penalty late in the second half.
Despite taking the lead, Steven Gerrard’s side found themselves chasing the game with minutes left on the clock.
Trézéguet, who was making his first appearance for the Midlands side since his long-term injury in April, was brought on as a substitute to try and change the ways for his team.
As the Egypt international made a driving run inside the penalty area, he lost control of the ball and then proceeded to go down like he had been shot by a sniper even though there was hardly any contact on the player.
Shearer issued this blunt yet simple response on Villa’s £9 million signing’s (BBC Sport) attempt to win a penalty.
“I don’t like it at all,” said Shearer. “It’s embarrassing.”

Well, Trézéguet is now off to the Africa Cup of Nations where he will represent Egypt in one of world football’s biggest tournaments.
The Villa speedster hasn’t had much game time and it will be interesting to see how he will be used during these coming weeks.
Of course, from a goalscoring front, Egypt have a certain Mo Salah who will be running down the wing, so they aren’t that reliant upon Trézéguet.
Although, given his Premier League experience, he will be hoping to bring home the trophy for his country in what is set to be a star-studded event.
