Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Leeds’ game against West Brom, Marcelo Bielsa has cast doubt over Patrick Bamford’s fitness.
The striker came off at the weekend against Burnley holding his leg, which is obviously a cause for concern, and Bielsa was unable to give an update as to whether or not he’ll be fit for this game.
Unfortunately, one man who will definitely be missing against West Brom is £18m summer signing Diego Llorente.
“With respect to Bamford I don’t know yet. And with respect to Llorente I know that I won’t be able to count on him on Tuesday,” Bielsa replied after being asked about injuries.
Bielsa has never been one to play mind games with things like this, in fact, he’s even been known to reveal his entire starting XI in press conferences in the past.
The fact that Bamford is a doubt for this game is a big blow, after all, he’s been Leeds’ most potent attacking threat this season, netting 10 goals already.
Fortunately, they have other attacking options in the shape of Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts, and a game against West Brom doesn’t represent the toughest task they will face this season, so they may be able to navigate this without Bamford.
We can only hope that the striker is fit and ready to play against the Baggies, but if he’s not, Bielsa will have a big decision to make when it comes to choosing his starting striker.
