Mateusz Klich has said to Pilka Nozna that he doesn’t know if he will sign another contract at Leeds United.

Klich has been a key player for Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa took charge, and his performances last year helped the Whites earn promotion to the Premier League.

Klich was rewarded for his fine form with a new contract, which will keep him at Leeds until he is 34.

But when he was asked whether he would extend his stay beyond that and retire at Leeds, Klich was not certain about his future plans.

“I have a contract with the club until 2024, so I will be 34 then, which is a lot. But will I stay here permanently? I don’t know, it will be a long time before my career ends,” Klich said.

Whether Leeds will even offer Klich another contract by the time he is 34 is very much unknown.

Klich’s main asset is his energy and athleticism, and in four years’ time he may not be quite as capable of getting up and down the pitch as he is now.

Thankfully, Klich’s immediate future is of no concern, and he is expected to have a key role for Bielsa’s side this season.

Leeds begin their campaign with a tricky first match back in the top flight against last season’s champions Liverpool.
