Andros Townsend has said on The ITV Football Football Show that he was left stunned by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson’s goal against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

The Crystal Palace winger has said that it was unbelievable to see Alisson pop up with the header winner, as Liverpool got the better of West Brom 2-1 away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League.

The win saw the Reds keep alive their chances of finishing in the top four.

Townsend said on The ITV Football Football Show: “It was a proper header. It was unbelievable. I don’t know how he has got his header to that, directed it in, but listen, it has been a tough season for him, it has been a tough season for Liverpool.”

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but the 28-year-old has had a tough time this season, both on the pitch and off it.

But, as the Brazil international showed against West Brom, he remains a key figure in the team and is very reliable indeed.

After all, how many times do you see an opposition goalkeeper inside the penalty box in the final minute and actually scoring?

Well, you could argue that Alisson should have been better marked by West Brom, but that still should take anything away from that moment.

In fact, if Liverpool eventually finish in the Champions League places, then it could be the moment of the season.

Could Alisson score a similar goal again? Why not? Although after what he did against West Brom, you would expect teams to mark him inside their box now…
