Alex Iwobi has been team-mates with Everton’s James Rodriguez since last summer but the Colombian is still surprising him, it seems.
The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star opened the scoring for Everton in their draw with Crystal Palace a little earlier this week.
Rodriguez has a wand of a left foot but the 29-year-old scored with his right one on Monday, directing a cut-back pass brilliantly into the net at Goodison Park.
And former Arsenal winger Iwobi, a £34 million signing in 2019 [BBC Sport], has admitted that he didn’t realise the South American attacker had that in his locker, adding that some of the passes he executes are abnormally brilliant.
He told BBC Sport: “What struck me [about James] was his right foot finish. I didn’t know he had that in him. Some of the passes that he plays, I don’t know how he sees it. It’s not normal.”
It’s been an up and down first season at Everton for Rodriguez.
He enjoyed a blistering start to life under Carlo Ancelotti on Merseyside and in total has netted six goals and set up eight from 22 games in all competitions.
