Gary Neville doesn’t understand how Tottenham Hotspur are now outspending Arsenal, as per his comments to Sky Sports, during their live Super Sunday coverage.

Tottenham went and splashed the cash this summer, as they brought in a number of players for sizeable fees.

Spurs signed the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty this summer, to really bolster their squad.

Arsenal, meanwhile, did spend big fees of Thomas Partey and Gabriel, but they were otherwise scrambling around for bargains.

And Neville can’t believe that Tottenham are now spending more than Arsenal, despite Spurs’s stadium only just being constructed.

“How’s that changed between Arsenal and Tottenham? A Daniel Levy led Tottenham is spending more than an Arsenal squad, who have the owners they’ve got. I don’t get it. I don’t understand how it’s got to that,” Neville said.

“Arsenal for many years had a stadium and those sorts of reasons, but still spent more than Tottenham.”

The benefits of Tottenham’s investment have already been clear this season.

Jose Mourinho’s side have improved massively from last term, and Spurs are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have found things far more difficult.

Arteta’s men have failed to really get going this season and currently sit down in 12th place.
