Joe Hart has admitted to BBC Sport that he will ‘give everything’ for Jose Mourinho’s cause at Tottenham Hotspur, even if he isn’t ‘the most talented’ player in the squad.
Spurs raised a few eyebrows by signing the former Manchester City goalkeeper this past summer.
Hart was available on a free transfer after being released by Burnley, having failed to make a Premier League appearance for the Clarets last season.
The 33-year-old is Mourinho’s second-choice stopper, behind Hugo Lloris and ahead of Paulo Gazzaniga, and has featured in mainly Europa League games for Tottenham so far.
Despite admitting his own limitations, Hart, a two-time Premier League winner, is adamant to show his qualities to the Portuguese coach, determined to justify his truth in him.
He said: “Jose is very clever at how he works the media. He is a different guy in his own environment, with his own players. He asks you to give your best and show your quality. That is how I work.
“I don’t claim to be the most talented guy in the world but I will give it everything. Trust works both ways. He definitely gives that and I enjoy working with him.”
Tottenham needed a new goalkeeper during the summer after releasing Michel Vorm.
And with Gazzaniga staying in North London until January at the earliest, the Lilywhites probably have the three strongest and most experienced in the whole division.
Given that he was free, it was a low-risk signing by Tottenham but if Hart’s pedigree and trophy-winning experience rubs off on the rest of the squad, there’s a lot to gain.
