Tim Sherwood has blasted Leeds boss Jesse Marsch ahead of their game against Aston Villa and claimed ‘I don’t buy into’ his team huddle, as he told the Kelly & Wrighty Show on PL Productions (10/03/23 at 12:20 pm).
The former Aston Villa boss stated that Marsch has ‘plenty of time’ to talk to his Leeds players after the game and he doesn’t need to do it out on the pitch.
After Leeds’ defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, Marsch was seen forming a huddle out on the pitch and giving a passionate speech to his players.
It sparked quite the reaction from the media, with some making it clear that they aren’t bothered about it, whilst others didn’t take a liking to his actions.
Well, even though the reason why Marsch’s huddle was explained by former Leeds striker, Jermaine Beckford, to Sherwood, the title-winning Blackburn captain was still having none of it.
“I’m not buying into this,” said Sherwood. “You can do this in the dressing room. You don’t need to do this in front of the fans.”
Beckford then interrupted: “Did you hear the reason why? Because he’s used to the media and the press getting the guys straight after the game is finished.
“Then him not really having the opportunity to dissect the good parts and the bad parts. He didn’t realise it was going to create as big of a media buzz as it had done.”
Sherwood responded: “I have been in the dressing room… when the players go out for media work, you decide when they go out, so he has plenty of time. I don’t buy into that.”

Well, Marsch will be hoping that he is hearing ‘Marsching on Together’ after the full-time whistle tonight because it will mean the players have done something right.
Over the years, Leeds’ fixtures against Aston Villa have been full of drama and controversy.
Only last month, the duo recorded an action-packed 3-3 draw at Villa Park, with Marcelo Bielsa being in the dugout, at the time.
And, the last time the duo met at Elland Road, in front of a packed-out crowd, was in the Championship when Bielsa allowed Villa to score an uncontested goal… more of the same tonight?!
