Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing the recent managerial search at Leeds United and the problems the Whites had when it came to appointing a new manager.

According to numerous reports, Leeds had trouble bringing a new manager in. The likes of Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot were all said to have rejected Leeds at one point or another during their managerial hunt.

However, despite numerous reports from reliable sources reporting on these rejections, Sherwood says that he, quite simply, doesn’t believe that any manager actually rejected Leeds, stating that he thinks the only gaffer who was offered the job was Javi Gracia.

Sherwood doesn’t believe rejection stories

The pundit gave his verdict on these stories.

“Anyone would be sitting near their phone thinking ‘please ring’ if it’s Leeds United because I think it’s a wonderful job. There will have been a lot of managers who want it. There were reports saying that they couldn’t get a manager and that everyone was turning them down. I don’t believe it. I don’t think anyone was offered the job, I think the man who was offered the job was Gracia and he’s gone in there and I wish him well,” Sherwood said.

Surely it’s true

Sherwood may have his own theory on these matters, but we can’t help but disagree.

Not only were reputable outlets making these managerial claims, but Andrea Radrizzani himself basically confirmed that Leeds were rejected by at least one manager with his, now infamous, ‘white smoke’ tweet.

It may be hard to believe that Leeds would be rejected. After all, they’re a massive club, but it does sound as though that was the case.
