Gary Neville has told his self-titled podcast that he feels that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is leading the charge of English coaches, who are starting to make real impacts on the game.
There was once a stigma with English coaches that they were, perhaps, more old-school in their approach than their foreign counterparts.
But Gerrard has done a remarkable job at Ibrox with Rangers, and there is now a clutch of promising English coaches breaking through.
The likes of Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Michael Carrick were all mentioned as promising talents by Neville yesterday.
But he was also keen to mention Gerrard’s title win with Rangers, after it was secured yesterday.
“I think what’s happened in the last five or 10 years in the Premier League… English coaches and English players, we’re starting to see Steven Gerrard today, and we should mention him, has won the the Scottish League,” he said.

“There was a worry that English coaches were going into punditry, that the best English minds weren’t going into the game. But we’re starting to see that change.
“I do think there’s a developing group of English coaches coming through.”
Gerrard’s Rangers side have had a season which is nothing short of remarkable.
Rangers have still only conceded nine goals and may well go a full campaign unbeaten.
Rangers have finally ended Celtic’s era of dominance, and Gerrard is rapidly turning himself into a club legend at Ibrox.
