Razvan Marin is a reported target for Tottenham – but he wants to stay at Viitorul Costanta for now.

Viitorul Constanta midfielder Razvan Marin has told Dolce Sport in his native Romania that he doesn’t want to leave the club amid reported interest from Tottenham.

Marin, 20, has racked up well over 70 appearances for Viitorul having come up through the ranks with the Romanian side, and hit four goals last season to really make a name for himself.

With two caps for Romania already, Marin is not only one for the future, but is also making an immediate impact, having scored his first goal for his country in the 5-0 win over Armenia last month.

In October, Italian newspaper Il Mattino reported that a host of clubs were keen on signing Marin, with Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli all interested, as well as PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs have earned a reputation for developing young players under Mauricio Pochettino, and adding Marin would be another sign of the youth policy at White Hart Lane, though Spurs do already have some talented young midfielders in Joshua Onomah and Marcus Edwards.

However, Marin – who can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or winger – has been discussing his future with Dolce Sport in Romania, and it doesn’t seem that he’s angling for a transfer.

Marin revealed that he spoke to Viitorul manager and former Barcelona hero Gheorghe Hagi about his future, and decided to stay in order to continue playing first team football.

The youngster stated that he doesn’t want to leave right now, and whilst he’ll see what happens in the future, he feels his decision to stay was the best choice for his development, meaning Spurs may have to wait if they really are interested in signing Marin.

“I do not want to leave now,” said Marin. “Because this summer, I made the best choice when I decided, with my father and Mr. Hagi to stay here. I can play every game here, and this is most important thing for me. I want to grow here and we will see what happens in the future. By playing every game, I have reached the Romanian national team,” he added.
