Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville has been discussing Arsenal and their celebrations after their win against Aston Villa a fortnight ago.
The Gunners beat Villa in one of the games of the season in mid-February with two late goals securing a 4-2 win at Villa Park.
After the game, there were jubilant scenes, and while Neville didn’t critique it at the time, he has now gone on the record to say that he didn’t like the way Arsenal celebrated, stating that it looked like it had an air of desperation about it.

Arsenal’s desperate celebrations
Neville discussed how Arsenal celebrated after this game.
“After the Villa game I understood how big of a moment it was, but I didn’t say this publicly, but I thought it was quite desperate quite early,” Neville said.
“There were a lot of celebrations at the end of the game and the emotion is something that’s a negative, it’s not a positive for me in the title race.”
Desperate times
Neville says that Arsenal looked desperate after the game against Villa, but we have to question what is wrong with that?
In this type of position, you should be celebrating every point and showing how much it means to you.
Yes, we’ve seen other teams in recent years be robotic in their pursuits of a Premier League title, but this is a young Arsenal team, let them enjoy it.
Of course, there is a fear of emotional overstimulation, but at the end of the day, the results on the pitch are all that matter, and Arsenal are excelling on that front right now.
