Guillem Balague has clarified his comments on Newcastle United’s potential takeover, which he made on Youtube.
Balague’s words on Newcastle’s takeover provided Magpies fans with great hope that the deal would go ahead.
“The new Newcastle, when everything gets confirmed and everybody expects it to be confirmed to be honest from everything I am reading and from everything I am hearing,” he said.
“From what I have been asking, the consensus is that the Premier League will accept the bid. If that is the case, then Newcastle are about to enter a new era.”
However, Balague actually now sounds far less certain that a deal will go through.
Balague insists that he wasn’t insinuating that he expects Newcastle’s deal to go through, despite claims on social media.
Newcastle’s takeover has been shrouded in uncertainty for weeks now, and much of the initial excitement over the rumours has turned to apprehension.
Newcastle supporters are desperate for the buy-out to go through, but the Premier League have delayed approving the deal.
Newcastle’s Saudi owners now even appear to have a rival buyer for the club, with the Chronicle suggesting that Henry Mauriss has recently made an offer.
