Scott Sinclair has admitted to Soccer AM on Sky Sports (10/10/20 at 11:15 am) that he didn’t realise just how big Celtic were until he played for them.
The English winger did make it clear that he knew Celtic were a ‘big club’ but the actual size of the Glasgow club only became apparent to him when he stepped foot onto the Parkhead pitch.
Sinclair spent four remarkable and trophy-laden years at Celtic, where he picked up trophy after trophy for Scotland’s biggest club.
And that is a move he cherishes because he made it clear that it was ‘one of the best’ decisions he made during his career.
“It was probably one of the best ever decisions I ever made in my career, at that time,” Sinclair told Soccer AM. “There was always speculation of me going up there.
“I thought about other things where you could have gone and stayed in England. But once I went up there. I knew how big Celtic was but I didn’t realise how big it is until you actually play for them.
“I think when you do play for them, you do realise ‘wow, this is a massive club’. I think you get to play in the Champions League. You just reading all of them things [his trophy haul and goal record at Parkhead] it’s one of the best times in my career.”

Sinclair wasn’t there to see Celtic win their ninth straight crown in the summer, but he will no doubt be supporting them from afar as they chase that historic tenth.
The first Old Firm derby of this season is due to take place on Saturday and it will have to be contested without any supporters present.
Whilst it’s a crying shame that supporters aren’t allowed into the stands, it won’t take away from the sheer pressure, velocity and aggression in which the game will be played in.
