Patrick Bamford has told the Leeds United official Podcast that Jamie Carragher’s recent comments about Leeds have caught him off guard.

Carragher said after Leeds faced Everton that the performance was one of their worst of the season.

Leeds did lose the game 2-1, but there was a widespread feeling after that could count themselves fairly unfortunate to have failed to get a point.

Leeds pushed really hard for an equaliser in the second-half.

And Bamford admitted today that he didn’t agree with Carragher’s comments, after he was made aware of them.

“I didn’t realise Carragher had said that it was one of our worst performances,” he said.

“The second half, they only had three chances all game, we had them penned in.

“Their keeper has pulled off three or four really good saves and it was just one of them where we definitely deserved a point and arguably we could have got all three.”

Carragher’s analysis did seem harsh at the time, with plenty of Leeds fans agreeing with Bamford and suggesting they were unlucky.

Thankfully for Leeds the unfortunate defeat does not seem to affected them too badly.

The Whites quickly bounced back from that loss with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in their last outing, which has pushed them back into the top half of the Premier League standings.
