It has been reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

The 17-year-old midfielder has enhanced his reputation in a big way this week following a brilliant performance against Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.

According to Eurosport, Liverpool are among the clubs watching the former Birmingham City gem.

The report adds that Borussia Dortmund value him at £100 million.

And although Merson was absolutely blown away by his performance against City in midweek, the pundit feels that he should absolutely not look to leave Dortmund anytime soon – even if he would ‘walk into’ Liverpool’s best XI.

He told The Star: “Bellingham would walk into the Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United teams. But he should stay at Borussia Dortmund because they believe in him and he is playing every week. He’s in a good place. I was blown away watching him against City. He knew everywhere to go. His game management was phenomenal. I didn’t realise he was that good to be honest.”

Merson is right in saying that Bellingham clearly has a huge future and staying in Germany is the best move, for now.

It’s staggering but he’s literally 17 years old and there’s no point in rushing him back to England.

In the Bundesliga, he’s learning his craft and learning it very well, going by the evidence of Wednesday, and it’ll be fascinating to see how much better he’s going to become.
