Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been revisiting Mikel Arteta’s strange comments after beating Norwich City last month.
Arteta claimed after the Norwich game that the last fortnight had been the best spell of his managerial career, and at the time these comments came across as rather bizarre.
Indeed, Arsenal had been bottom of the league for the two weeks before Arteta made this remark, so why was he so happy? Well, Wright thinks that his comments now make sense.
What’s been said?
Wright discussed Arteta’s quote after the Gunners’ win against Tottenham, and he says that it now makes sense as it was the first time Arteta was allowed to have a prolonged period with the a squad that he’s played a huge part in building.
“You must of heard it, he said ‘this is the best 14 days of my career’. I didn’t know what it meant at the time,” Wright said.
“After the Norwich game right? It was a bit bizarre,” Wright’s co-host said.
“It was Flo, it was, but now you look back at it. There’s no European football, he’s had all that time time to work with them, he’s got the players he wants to work with. There’s six signings, his six signings all finished the game and the five players he re-signed finished the game. You have to think about the squad depth, but I’m feeling that there has been some sort of moment,” Wright concluded.

Turned around
Arteta says that the fortnight during the international break was a great spell for the club, and now we’re finally seeing the results.
Arsenal have put together three consecutive wins, including a very impressive 3-1 victory against Tottenham on Sunday.
We don’t know what happened during that fortnight Arteta described as the best of his career, but it seems as though that period was beneficial for everyone associated with Arsenal.
