Mo Salah has stated that he ‘didn’t expect’ Sadio Mane to assist him in such a way during Liverpool’s 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United on Tuesday night, as he told Sky Sports.

After going six games without scoring, Liverpool’s left-footed flyer ended that barren run when Mane played a quite stunning first-time pass that allowed Salah to double his side’s lead.

From then on, it was party mode for the home side as they continued to toy with their old rivals at Anfield.

Mane also got himself on the scoresheet, after Luis Diaz and Salah’s brace to help the Reds move to the top of the Premier League table.

Given the arrival and form of Diaz, Liverpool’s Africa Cup of Nations winner has played more central under Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks.

Despite that, it hasn’t stopped Mane from producing out-of-this-world performances, as Salah hailed his teammate as ‘unbelievable’.

“I don’t expect that,” said Salah. “But great ball from Sadio. He’s now playing number nine more.

“But he is doing an unbelievable job to score goals as well. I think everybody in front is just playing a good game all the time, which is the most important thing.”

Over to you Manchester City is the message now from Liverpool, as Pep Guardiola’s side will host Brighton on home soil on Wednesday night.

On paper, this should be an evening of three comfortable points for the champions.

But, there is one thing trying to secure that win on a normal day and another when the pressure is right on top of your head.

Added with that, Man City also have had to deal with injuries which haven’t helped Guardiola, although, given the hundreds of millions they have spent, they aren’t going to exactly get sympathy.
