Speaking on talkSPORT, Danny Murphy has been discussing Ryan Fraser after an impressive run of form for Newcastle United.
The Scottish winger has been electric as of late. Without Allan Saint-Maximin in the side he’s been the brightest spark in the front three. He grabbed a goal and an assist at the weekend, while he also set up a goal against Brentford the previous week.
Murphy says that Howe has made Fraser a sharper player, stating that he didn’t expect the winger to be playing at such a standard.
What’s been said?
Murphy was full of praise for Fraser.
“Fraser, who was not everybody’s cup of tea, he knows him from Bournemouth and he’s kept him in the team. He’s got him sharp and he’s been contributing in these past few weeks and I didn’t expect that,” Murphy said.

Shouldn’t be a shock
Murphy says that Fraser’s recent resurgence has shocked him, but why has it?
The winger has proven in the past just how good he can be under Eddie Howe, and while he wasn’t great for Newcastle last season, let’s not forget the impact he had at Bournemouth.
Back in 2018/19 he grabbed 14 assists and seven goals for the Cherries. This isn’t a player who’s never made such an impact before in the Premier League.
Fraser is playing brilliantly, and while it’s fantastic to see, it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock.
