Patrick van Aanholt has been speaking about his future to ESPN as his contract with Crystal Palace draws to its conclusion.
The 30-year-old finds himself out of contract at Selhurst Park in June, and there has been no talk of an extension for the Dutchman.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal wanted the 12-cap Netherlands international in January as backup to Kieran Tierney.
Now, it sounds as if he’d be open to anything this summer.
Speaking to ESPN Netherlands (translated by Sport Witness), the left-back said: “I did talk to PSV last year in the winter. That was an option. I didn’t talk to Ajax. I’ll be transfer-free in the summer. I’ll keep all options open. We’ll see what will happen.”

If Mikel Arteta remains in the market for a backup left-back, we feel he can’t go wrong in signing the former Chelsea man.
Van Aanholt would be able to provide vast Premier League experience, having made 208 appearances in the competition.
Additionally, his attacking qualities would suit this Arsenal side, as Arteta seems keen for his full-backs to push on and provide an overlap more often than not.

You may be sceptical, as if he was that good, surely Crystal Palace would keep him.
However, he would only be coming in to deputise for Tierney, so Arteta isn’t exactly after someone who can deliver an 8/10 performance every week.
In a COVID-19 hit market, Arsenal could do far worse than sign Van Aanholt on a free transfer.
