Clinton Morrison has said on Sky Sports News (2:53pm, May 23, 2021) that he was wrong about Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford.

The former Crystal Palace forward has said that he did not think that Bamford would be a success for Leeds in the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit has now admitted that he was wrong about the 27-year-old striker.

Morrison said about Bamford on Sky Sports News (2:53pm, May 23, 2021), as transcribed by The Yorkshire Evening Post: “I’ll apologise, because at the start of the season I did not think Patrick Bamford would have a season like he’s had because I thought he missed too many chances in the Championship.

“Credit to Patrick Bamford, he has been outstanding. He’s scored all kinds of goals this season, he’s led the line brilliantly.

“With the goals that he’s scored, he should be in with a shout of that England squad. Do I think he’ll make it? He probably won’t, but he’s been outstanding.

“You know what’s good? He’s got a manager who believes in him. As a centre forward you need that. Even if he’s not scoring goals, or he goes two or three games without one, he [Bielsa] knows that Bamford brings a lot to that Leeds team. I, for one, have to apologise to Patrick Bamford, because he’s proved me wrong.”

Bamford has been superb for Leeds this season.

The Englishman is the first-choice striker at the Whites and banged in the goals regularly in the Premier League this season.

The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season.

The only English player to score more than Bamford this campaign?

Harry Kane with 23 goals.

Bamford also provided seven assists in the league this season.

The Leeds star’s goal accuracy rate this season is 19%; Kane’s is 21%.

Tottenham striker Kane’s shot accuracy is 49%, Bamford’s is 53%.

Bamford cost Leeds £7 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports.

It now looks like a bargain.
