Heung-Min Son has admitted that he ‘couldn’t run anymore’ towards the end of Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday evening, as he told Premier League Productions (19/12/21 at 6:45 pm).

The Tottenham forward stated that it was an ‘intense’ game and he found it ‘really, really hard’ against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Whilst Son scored his side’s equalising goal after pouncing on an Alisson Becker mistake, he would have felt that he should have scored more during the game.

This was the final game before Christmas and both teams provided an early Christmas present for all because it was perhaps the game of the season so far.

After the game, Son expressed how shattered he was after being put through his paces against Liverpool.

“It was an intense game,” said Son. “It was really, really hard.

“At the end of the game, I was like ‘I couldn’t run anymore’. Even that intense game makes you really enjoy the game.

“But I am really disappointed. I feel sorry for the team that I had because we had so many opportunities to kill the game.”

Even though Spurs had missed their last three games because of COVID postponements, they didn’t play like a team that hadn’t played in two weeks.

From preparation and tactical perspective, Antonio Conte would have had time to prepare his team for the Reds.

But, in terms of match sharpness, many would have been questioning where Spurs were and whether there would be any rustiness in their game.

In truth, the only rusty nature to their game was their lack of ruthless nature in the final third because they should have scored at least three more goals yesterday.
