Brendan Rodgers has told Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports Premier League tonight (10:14pm, April 26, 2021) that he had to leave Celtic for Leicester City.
The Leicester boss has said that although he grew up supporting Celtic, he simply could not turn down the chance to manage Leicester and help them break into the Premier League top six.
The 46-year-old was appointed as the Celtic manager in the summer of 2016, and after a hugely successful spell, he left his role at the Scottish giants in February 2019 and moved to Leicester.
Rodgers told Carragher on Sky Sports Premier League (10:14pm, April 26, 2021) when asked about his decision to leave Celtic for Leicester: “I have always said it was such a tough decision for me to leave Celtic, Jamie, because I was a Celtic supporter growing up, but what I couldn’t do was let my heart rule my head.
“I felt that I needed the next challenge. Celtic is a huge institution in the game, but coming back here to Leicester, my challenge was, ‘Could we disrupt the top six?’”

Celtic exit vindicated?
Rodgers was absolutely brilliant during his time at Celtic. The Hoops won trophies after trophies and played some lovely football.
The former Liverpool manager won the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup twice each and the Scottish Cup on three occasions with the Bhoys.
Leicester play very good football under Rodgers and narrowly missed out on a Champions League place in the Premier League table last season.
However, things are looking much better this time around. Leicester are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 62 points from 33 matches.
