Leon Bailey has slammed the actions of Lisandro Martinez and blasted the officiating during Aston Villa’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday because he ‘couldn’t breathe’ after being elbowed, as he posted on Twitter.
The Villa winger stated that he was ‘elbowed twice in the ribs’ by the Manchester United defender, but he was told by the linesman ‘I shouldn’t be saying anything’ because he was accused of doing the same.
In the second half, Bailey was flat on the floor, in front of the Man United away fans, after a heavy and possible red-card challenge from Martinez, with referee Anthony Taylor checking on the player and then proceeding to continue the game.

In one of a number of questionable calls from the on-field official, the Villa Park faithful didn’t like what they saw and they made their feelings clear.
Bailey clearly felt he was on the end of some rough treatment from Man United’s all-action summer signing, who wasn’t booked during the game.
Nonetheless, this is what Bailey, who opened the scoring during Unai Emery’s first match as Villa boss, posted on Twitter about being elbowed.
UNAI EMERY WORKS HIS MAGIC
Man United are probably sick and tired of Unai Emery because, once again, he has managed to get the better of them, this time in the colours of Villa.
That defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League final still probably haunts them today, well, now he ended the Midlands side’s 27-year wait for a league win on home soil against Man United.
It won’t be too long before they lock horns again because the two will be in EFL Cup action on Thursday night, this time at Old Trafford.
Emery doesn’t have to make many changes because his team were outstanding during both halves, but the battles from the weekend will surely continue on to Thursday night.
