Harry Redknapp has shared that he ‘couldn’t believe it’ when he was hearing people ‘write off’ Harry Kane at Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT.
The former Spurs boss added that Kane is ‘different class’ and a ‘complete pro’ following his brace during his side’s 5-0 thrashing of Everton on Monday night.
Those two goals last night were significant for the Tottenham striker because he has moved past Thierry Henry in the Premier League’s all-time goalscorers list.
The Arsenal legend netted 175 during his trophy-laden career, whilst Kane, now on 176, is one behind Everton boss, Frank Lampard.
Nonetheless, given Kane’s difficult start to this season, Redknapp just couldn’t understand what was being said about him.
“When you look at the team,” said Redknapp. “You look at what they have upfront. They have the best centre-forward, in my opinion.
“They have really been achieving and under-achieving – yesterday, they were back on top again and playing fantastic. Next week, who knows?
“Every chance (of catching Alan Shearer’s record). He is a complete all-round player. He’s a great professional. A great person to have in the dressing room, as well as out on the pitch. A leader. A complete pro.
“He had a little blip earlier in the season when people started writing him. I couldn’t believe it. I know what he can do. He is just different class. He can do everything.”

I think the words ‘complete pro’ need to be brushed off when describing Kane because he is clearly getting preferential treatment.
Is this the same Kane that did an interview with Gary Neville on one of the biggest platforms for Sky Sports where he spoke about possibly leaving Spurs?
The same one that spoke about a ‘gentleman’s agreement’, then the well-documented drama that unfolded with him and Manchester City in the summer?
And who comes out on social media to tell their fans that they are staying at the club ‘this summer’, as he posted on Twitter.
In truth, if certain other players, not England captains, did what Kane did then there would be a different viewpoint on him.
There’s no doubt that Kane is one of the world’s best, but this narrative that is a ‘complete pro’ needs to be shut down because he clearly isn’t.
