Jamie Carragher told Friday Night Football on Sky Sports that he ‘couldn’t believe’ that Everton haven’t done the double over Tottenham since the ’80s.
The last time Everton did the domestic double over Spurs, a baby-faced Carragher was probably still repping the blue half of Merseyside before becoming a legend with the red side.
On Friday night, that record continued when Harry Kane punished two errors from Everton’s defenders to help Tottenham record a 2-2 draw at Goodison.
Carragher was sharing what he was reading before Friday’s showdown, which left him surprised.
“The actual record of Spurs at this ground is very good, certainly the last few years,” said Carragher.
“I was looking at the stat-pack before the game and I couldn’t believe Everton are trying to do the double over Spurs since the mid-’80s.
“I couldn’t actually believe that stat when I saw it.”

Well, it will be interesting to see if that record changes next season or during these coming seasons given where both clubs are heading.
Whilst there isn’t much between the two in the Premier League table, Everton are on the up, whereas those in North London are steadily declining.
Plus, if Spurs do lose their star number nine then their downfall might just become even more rapid.
