Well, it’s looking like Arsenal’s Thomas Partey may not leave London Colney.
The 28-year-old was called up to Ghana’s squad for the current international break, despite the fact he is carrying a groin injury.
But the Arsenal powerhouse hasn’t yet left the Gunners’ training ground.
There was an outside shot of him flying out to meet his international colleagues for a World Cup qualifier with South Africa on Sunday.
But according to Charles Watts, that’s unlikely and the North Londoners are ‘hopeful’ that he’ll face Liverpool next Saturday.
Partey is a huge player for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s side have a much better chance of winning at Anfield with him than without him.
Here’s how their fans are reacting to the news that he’s staying at the training ground to boost his chance of playing next weekend.
Huge
Arsenal haven’t lost a Premier League game since August, the 5-0 defeat at Manchester City.
Okay so they still won’t be favourites to win away to Jurgen Klopp’s side on Saturday.
But it wouldn’t be completely unthinkable, either.
However, with Granit Xhaka already sidelined, that leaves Arsenal’s midfield weak and if Partey is out too, well that would be devastating for their chances.
Albert Sambi Lokonga is a fine player and one who will improve, but him partnering Mohamed Elneny as a pivot in midfield has bad news written all over it.
But hopefully for Arsenal, it won’t come to that.
