Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are buzzing about an announcement regarding Danny Rose.
Spurs released their long-serving defender this summer, with the England international moving across London to sign for Watford.
Rose, who spent 14 years on Tottenham’s books, was an unused substitute in the Hornets’ first two Premier League games of the season.
But he made his debut in last night’s EFL Cup win over Crystal Palace – and not only that, but was announced as the recipient of the Man of the Match award.
Here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter:
Comeback
Interestingly, Spurs take on Watford in North London on Sunday and it’ll be interesting to see if Rose starts.
If he does, he is pretty much guaranteed a positive reaction from the home fans; not strictly because of time served, but because he was, at one point, a huge player for the Lilywhites, particularly under Mauricio Pochettino.
That being said, Pochettino’s departure as Tottenham boss in 2019 pretty much spelled the end of Rose’s time at the club, with Jose Mourinho never really fancying the player.
But as last night showed, he still has a lot of ability and remember, Palace are also a Premier League team.
Getting Man of the Match against a Championship or League One side is one thing, but his performance on Tuesday was a big reminder that he remains a very talented player and he’ll be out to prove as much against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this coming weekend.
